Classification: Endangered Missing

Vital Statistics

Circumstances of Disappearance
Ashby left her family's home in Campbelltown, New South Wales Australia on October 9, 1987 at approximately 13:00. She said she was going to a friend's house for a visit. Ashby was never seen again. She did not bring any extra clothing or personal belongings with her when she left her family's home.

Debbie may have lived in the Nowra and Newcastle areas at some stage since her disappearance. She has been sighted numerous times. The most recent sighting was in the Fairfield area in 1998, when she was seen by a school friend. None of the sightings have been confirmed.
Police believe foul play is suspected because Ms Ashby had not been seen or heard from since 1987.

Ashby was a rebellious teen, she had experienced threats at school and had wanted to move schools before leaving school for good. Police believe her disappearance was related to threats she had received at school.
