Sherry was last seen at approximately 9:30 a.m. leaving First National Bank and crossing the street toward the gas station in downtown Greenville. Her stepfather said he gave her $1 to buy a Coke while he went into a bank. He said she wasn't in his pickup truck when he returned 15 minutes later.
There have been unverified sightings of Sherry with a husky, middle aged man, possibly a truck driver, traveling through Georgia, Mississippi, and Florida. All witnesses described the young lady as looking dishelved, upset, and dazed. One witness heard the young lady call the man "B.J.".
