On November 11, 1988, Shantelle's mother reported her missing/runaway. Shantelle was never located or returned home. It wasn't until approximately 11 years later when a family member called to find out where Shantelle was, it was found she'd never been located. Follow up investigation with her mother revealed she hasn't been seen or heard from since November 1988. Checks with Social Security and for Drivers licenses have turned up nothing. There have been no leads in this case since 1999.
Shantelle had just moved to Dayton from Bishop, CA, two weeks prior to her disappearance. She disappeared after attending school in Dayton, but witnesses claim was seen at a Dayton street dance two days after she left home. Lyon County Officials theorize Shantelle may have met with foul play at the street dance.
