A military fuel truck was traveling westbound on I-16 (from Savannah to Macon) and got overturned spilling gallons of diesel fuel before the Sgoda Road exit in Twiggs County.
Personnel ran down embankment to shore up spill and discovered a skull and later almost a complete set of skeletal remains. The remains were spread out within tens of yards. Some bones were partially buried.
The remains were found near Interstate 16 north about 14 miles east of Macon. The remains were about 200 feet east of the Huber/Scoda Road sign in Twiggs County.
