Circumstances of Disappearance

Jerry Wolking was last seen in Illinois in 1990. His son says that he knew something was wrong a couple of days before his father's disappearance, when he was acting strangely at a family birthday party. He was pacing the floors and acted as if he was preoccupied. His son also said that he didn't want to stay to give his gift at the party.

Jerry was going through a divorce from his wife. He had a new girlfriend whose ex was having him followed. The private detective who was following Jerry came forward and admitted to following him.

The son found Jerry's vehicle at the long-term parking lot at the Quad City International Airport, with blood inside and out. The vehicle looked as if it had been ransacked. There were newspapers and other things strewn all over the car, and there was mud, packed into the trailer hitch, as if someone had backed into a ditch. There was no evidence Jerry left on a flight, and his vehicle wasn’t there the day before.

Investigators think Jerry was struck by his own truck – that someone used the 1988 Suburban and hit him with it, leaving him with fatal injuries. Law enforcement think the suspect, whom they believe is deceased, may have placed Jerry's body in the back of the vehicle and dumped his body. And the suspect may not have worked alone. At first, Jerry's truck was missing, too, but it was found Oct. 22 at the Quad Cities International Airport. It was damaged and covered in mud. There was fresh damage to the front end and there was blood inside the vehicle. Evidence analyzed in 2013 shows that Jerry was struck by his own truck, critically injured or likely killed, then placed inside his own truck and transported from the scene.
