His family resided in Barbour County, West Virginia. Moore's wife received a letter from a chaplin at Fort Riley stating that Moore may have gone AWOL and headed towards Canada. All child allotment checks were stopped. Since he was presumed AWOL, the FBI was involved. There has been no activity on Moore's Social Security number since 1956.
