Circumstances of Disappearance
Clarence Moore was stationed at Fort Riley with the 16th Infantry in Kansas in 1956. His family resided in Barbour County, West Virginia. Moore's wife received a letter from a chaplin at Fort Riley stating that Moore may have gone AWOL and headed towards Canada. All child allotment checks were stopped. Since he was presumed AWOL, the FBI was involved.
There has been no activity on Moore's Social Security number since 1956. His daughter said she had proof that her father was in the Fort Riley area after his initial disappearance, but the information has never been confirmed.
