Scott Coville went missing in April 1988. His mother reported him missing in May after several attempts to contact him following his 26th birthday. At the time, he was living with his wife, Jane Reth, of just under a year, in the trailer home they shared in Sitka. Their marriage was an abusive one, according to Ms. Reth's defense attorney. In 2010, she was charged with first-degree murder and tampering with physical evidence. She pleaded guilty to a lesser charge of second-degree murder and admitted to shooting her husband while he was in bed asleep, cutting the body into pieces, and disposing of the body in the trash, which was incinerated. She was sentenced in 2011 to 55 years in prison, with 19 years suspended.
