Sam Tavakol had dinner at his mother's Northridge home and left after saying he was going to meet some friends. The teenager, who was due to start a job as a bank teller three days later, may have gone to meet with a man he gave money to. His vehicle, a 1987 Nissan Sentra, was found abandoned three days later in the parking lot of a Ralphs Market in the 14000 blo ck of Ventura Boulevard in Sherman Oaks.
Tavakol had lost most of a $60,000 inheritance in a suspicious business deal and is believed to have become a victim of foul play. He was a Pierce College student at the time.
