On Sunday April 18th 1976, at approximately 12:00 P.M., Gary Pinkney departed his residence in Fort Churchill, Manitoba on his snowmobile.
He was destined for the Hudson Bay and had planned to return home that same evening.
On April 19th, 1976 at approximately 8:00 A.M., Helen Pinkney contacted the Churchill RCMP Detachment and reported that her husband had not yet returned home.
Extensive searches were done of the area by land and by air for several days with negative results. The remains of Pinkney have not been located and given his intended route, it is presumed that he drowned.
