The victim's decomposed torso was discovered by a passing motorist on SR 191, about 6/10 of a mile south of Sylvan Cascade Road. The victim's torso was wrapped inside four black garbage bags with red ties.
The man may not have been local to where he was discovered. Isotope testing suggested a diet including wheat or rice products, more commonly observed in European and Asian locations. Additional elements studied in the testing suggested another potential origin from the south to southwest region of the USA from Pennsylvania to Kentucky and Tennessee, or the coastal areas of California.
As the head was never recovered, investigators submitted the man's DNA to the Parabon NanoLabs, who created a computer-generated facial approximation based on the phenotype results they obtained. Previously unknown features, such as complexion, hair and eye color, and ancestry could be predicted, including facial shape.
