Helen Mary Feeney
Missing since October 29, 1987 from Brisbane, Queensland, Australia
Classification: Endangered Missing
Circumstances of Disappearance
Feeney was last seen alive on October 29, 1987, at the Colonial Village Caravan Park at Taigum in Brisbane. Her ex-husband realized she was missing when she failed to show for her access visit with her six-year-old son, to whom she was devoted. He reported her missing on November 28. Two days later her Holden Gemini was spotted at Carseldine College. The driver's window was smashed.
Police believe Helen Mary Feeney was killed by notorious child-killer Barrie John Watts, who was acquitted of her murder in 1995.
Watts wife and accomplice, Valmae Beck, testified that Watts had killed Helen because she interrupted him breaking into cars at Carseldine, and dumped her body at the Lowood tip. Watts also told a fellow inmate that he had killed a woman after breaking into her car, then dumped her body at a rubbish tip. The inmate gave the information to police. Police suspect Mrs Feeney is buried in a shallow grave between Lowood and Wivenhoe Dam.
Feeney had been studying to be a teacher at the North Brisbane College of Advanced Education at Carseldine.
