Circumstances of Disappearance
Campbell phoned his parents in Gurranang, New South Wales on December 13, 1991 from Brisbane, Queensland.

Campbell informed his parents that he would be hitchhiking from Brisbane back to their New South Wales' home the following morning; he never arrived and has not been seen or heard from again.

Campbell's backpack and wallet were found near Mount Lindsay, which is on the border of Queensland and New South Wales, later in the investigation.
