The victim was found in an open-wooded lot behind the BB&T bank by a surveyor. He was known to be homeless and had been sleeping in the woods for approximately 2 years. He had never been a patron of the local homeless shelter which had been in operation for the previous 4 to 5 years.
Many attempts were made locally to identify this man. He had close to $3,000 in varying denominations packed in plastic bags hidden in the lining and pockets of his topcoats.
