The decedent's head was found inside a brown paper shopping bag in a coal bin of the basement of a vacant property located at 624 N. Marshall Street. The building was set to be demolished for the construction of I-676. The rest of her remains were not recovered.
Detectives found strands of the decedent's hair inside a blue and white striped pillowcase found on the floor near the coal bin. The bottom of the pillowcase was stuffed with a newspaper dated January 18, 1963. Nearby was also found a piece of white cloth with "Mayfair Linen" printed on the upper left corner. There were also seven magazines found on the floor, all current issues.
