Circumstances of Disappearance

Ashley was last seen at her home in the Windyke subdivision near Windyke Country Club, with her aunt in Memphis, Tennessee on September 16, 1996. On that morning, Ashley's mother and stepfather left for work and her 12 year old sister left for school, leaving Ashley in the care of her mother's sister, Joyce. Around 09:00 a.m. or 09:30 a.m., Ashley's mother called home to check on Joyce and Ashley, and Joyce told her what Ashley had been doing. Ashley's mom thought she heard Ashley in the background.

Following the families' departure from home that morning and the above phone call, Ashley was never seen nor heard from again. Joyce M. Lindsey was later convicted of the second-degree murder of Ashley and her body has never been found.
