A contractor discovered the decedent's skull in a home in Spring Grove, Minnesota. Investigators believe the skull had been at the scene before 1967, and the male died circa 1960.
Attempts to extract a usable DNA profile were made in 2006, but the file was not strong enough. There are efforts being made to raise additional funds for a more advanced form of obtaining DNA to be used for genetic genealogy research, by Othram, Inc.
