Vital Statistics

Circumstances of Disappearance
Patrice Denis was last seen on May 23, 1985. He was left by a colleague on the Route Nationale 44 where he was going to hitchhike to the military camp of Mourmelon Le Grand where he was going to participate in the launching of experimental rockets organized by the ANSTJ - Technical Sciences Youth, of which he was a member.
His parents informed the police of his disappearance on August 27, 1985 and an investigation was opened. Patrice Denis was living in Enghein Les Bains, he was getting a professional training at the PTT School of Villecresnes.
It is unbelievable for the people who knew him that he disappeared voluntarily.
He is considered to be a victim of chief adjudant Pierre Chanal, suspect in the disappearances and murders of up to eight young men. All young men disappeared while hitchhiking around Mourmelon. Chanal committed suicide in October 2003 in hospital after his trial for the murder of Patrice Denis and the murders of Patrick Gache, whose body was never found and Trevor O'Keefe, found murdered by strangulation on August 8, 1987, had started. Traces of their DNA were found in his vehicle.
