A cleaning crew found the full-term newborn just after 9 a.m. in a women's restroom trash bin on the second level of Terminal 4 at Sky Harbor Airport. The terminal is the airport's busiest and home to both US Airways and Southwest Airlines. Investigation suggests the baby was delivered elsewhere and left in the trash bin in the bathroom. There was no blood or other indication in the bathroom that a child had been delivered there. The infant's umbilical cord was still attached. She appeared to be full-term or near full-term.
DNA analysis by the Parabon Nanolabs provided a likeness of the child's mother. The results indicated the mother, who is a person of interest, was white (Primarily northern European) with a light complexion, had green eyes, few or some freckles and had blond hair.
The child is known as "Skylar."
