Stephen went missing on Wed. 2nd February 2000. His car, a silver Honda Civic (Reg Number 86 D 5566) was found on Ceanchor road in Howth on February 6th 2000. The Howth Gardai did an air and sea search but nothing was found. Around six weeks before he was killed, Stephen found drugs belonging to a criminal. The man who owned the drugs was known to Stephen and beat him in the face and body. In weeks after this, he harassed him with threatening phone calls. According to his mother, this man would never leave him alone and was probably thinking that Stephen was about to tell on him to the Gardai. This man threatened Stephen to shoot him. On the day that he vanished without trace, Stephen left his home on Willy Nolan Road in Baldoyle in his Honda Civic car and travelled to Howth to meet some friends. He never arrived to meet his friends. The investigation started on February 6, when his car was located. His mother believes that he was followed to Howth and shot close to where his car was located and his body then dumped into the Irish Sea from nearby cliffs.
