Verheyden was last seen while hitchhiking on the Hume Highway at Casula, near Liverpool, on March 10, 1991. She was seen sitting outside the Crossroads Hotel after returning from a party and was intending to return home to Westmead, Sydney.
She has not contacted her parents or her eight brothers and sisters, reported for work, nor operated her bank account, since attending the party.
Her flat mate told a coroner she had collapsed after she and her friend were injected with heroin by a man police described as a "well-known drug offender". She may have received a fatal overdose of heroin at the premises.
She was reported missing to Parramatta Police Station.
