Ralf Wegner disappeared during a holiday he spent with two friends on the French Mediterranean island Corsica. On August 29, 1999, the group picked up another friend at Ajjaccio airport. All four then drove to Corte to the camping site " U Sognu " where the friends stayed during their holiday. Later that afternoon Ralf Wegner went jogging alone. Around 19.30 all four went to Corte to have dinner together. Two members of the groups returned to the camping site around midnight.
At about 02. Ralf and the remaining friend began their way home to the campsite too. On the way there they met four French persons with whom they started talking. Half an hour later Ralf did not want to wait longer and walked alone the remaining 300 meters toward the camping site. Although the friend tried to follow Ralf immediately, he lost sight of him. Ralf may have been seen at a bar in Corte later that night. That night was the last time Ralf Wegner was seen. All searches were fruitless.
