Rejembeau was last seen leaving her work place in Toulouse, France on January 4, 1980, to have lunch at her residence that she shared with her mother and her child. She never reached her residence.
Her purse was located the following day in the Garonne river electric plant of Bazacle. Her car was located a few days after on the St. Michel alleys in Toulouse.
A first non suit was declared in 1982. The investigation was reopened in 1985 on the basis of new elements. The investigation then focuses on the sex trade in Barcelona. But a new non suit was declared in 1989. I
n 1996, her family went back to Barcelona where several witnesses claimed to have seen Monique in the Barrio Chino, an area frequented by prostitutes in Barcelona. Despite these new elements the case remains unsolved.
