Arlene Fraser, mother-of-two, who was estranged from her husband, disappeared from her home in Elgin in Moray in 1998. Mrs Fraser was separated from her husband who, only a few weeks earlier, had attempted to throttle her in the course of an assault which resulted in an 18-month jail sentence.
She vanished shortly after waving her two children off to school. She did not return to pick up her children who were being looked after by a friend after school.
Her contact lenses, watches, rings and medicine were left behind in her home and there were no signs of any struggle.
Police were alerted that night, and conducted a fruitless search of the area, using helicopters from nearby RAF Lossiemouth, mountain rescue teams, search dogs and police divers.
There have been no reported sightings and no money has been withdrawn from her bank account.
Nat Fraser was jailed for life in 2003 after being found guilty of murdering his wife. Fraser was found guilty of hiring a hit man to kill his wife and dispose of her remains. Her body was never found.
