Around noon on 14 July 1995, Kratzsch accompanied a friend from Bielefeld to the train station “Zoologischer Garten”. That was when he was last seen.
A young man claimed to have met Till at Mannheim central station in the summer of 1997, he recognized him afterward after seeing a report about Till on TV. The young punk told the witness he wanted to spend the winter on the island of Corsica - and he gave the witness a paper with some drawings. The paper showed stick men which looked a lot like those Till Kratzsch used to do.
In spring 2000, two women contacted police about Till's case. Near Bethaniendamm, in an area that was then occupied by several people who were living rough, they had met a young man dressed as a punk and one of the women thought he was her stepbrother. It turned out not to be him - but her stepbrother looked a lot like Till Kratzsch.
Punk is a lifestyle and community in Germany. The punk scene is composed of an assortment of smaller subcultures.
