Domece was last seen as she was leaving the institution where she had been placed, the Foyer Leclerc de Fourolles in Auxerre, France on July 8, 1988.
She was going to take the train to Migennes, about 25 kilometers away. She never changed the SNCF (National Railways Society) coupon she had to obtain her train ticket.
She had left with a small gym bag but all her belongings were still in her apartment. It was first thought that she left with a boyfriend.
She was long considered to be a victim of serial killer Emile Louis before recent developments who now point to her being a victim of serial killer Michel Fourniret .
According to her father a few days after she disappeared somebody told him his daughter had been seen in the company of a strange couple in Auxerre. Her grandmother lived in Saint-Cyr-les-Colons as did the Fourniret couple.
The institution director only informed law enforcement of her disappearance on August 8. A judge dismissed the case on February 14, 1989 and her case closed.
Her case was relaunched in 2002 following the developments in the Emile Louis case.
